NTA Eligibility for CSIR NET 2020 Exam


The CSIR NET exam is organize for earth, life, mathematics, physical and chemical science subjects. The science stream candidates can apply for their PG subject or its related subject only. The candidates must have following CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria.


Educational criteria: The students must have post-graduation degree with aggregate 55% marks from the UGC approved universities.

The candidates who are in final year of post-graduation or who’s result is awaited or candidates whose graduation has been complete, can also apply for CSIR NET exam. However, they must complete the PG degree with in two years to be eligible for the NET Certificate.

The BTech graduate candidates are also eligible to apply for the CSIR NET JRF only and they have to complete the master’s degree with in two years from the result declaration.

Age Limit: If we talk about the age limit, candidates can apply for CSIR NET JRF till the age of 28 years while no age limit criteria for NET lectureship.

If you are fully dedicated to CSIR NET Preparation, start your day at six in the morning and start study at 7’o clock till 11 AM. Take a break from 11 to 2 AM. Then start study again 2 to 5 PM and take a break from 5 to 7 PM. And then continue study from 7 to 11 PM. How to Fill Online CSIR NET Application Form? Know Registration Process

NTA is responsible to conduct the CSIR NET exam from Dec 2019. The National testing agency is an individual body which conducts the national level exams.

The CSIR NET exam is held twice a year for selection of candidates for assistant professor and junior research fellowship.

The CSIR NET exam will be held in June and December month and the application form will be filled 2-3 month before the exam.

How to apply online for CSIR NET June 2020 Examination

To fill the CSIR NET application form, you can follow the step by step procedure mentioned below.

1. First, you should confirm your CSIR NET eligibility criteria before applying online for CSIR NET June 2020 exam.


Candidates who have completed the post-graduation degree from UGC approved universities with more than 55% marks, can register themselves through online website. 

Candidates with graduation degree are also eligible to apply for NET JRF, however they have to complete the PG degree. 

The age must be below 30 years if you are going to apply for NET JRF. There are no age limit criteria for NET lectureship for assistant professor only.


2. If you are completing eligibility and interested, then you can apply for the exam.

Keep all your documents with you, i.e., scanned photographs, signature, cast certificate, 10th, 12th & graduation mark sheet etc.

3. Now visit the official website of CSIR NET or click on “APPLY ONLINE” link.

Complete your basic details, i.e., Name, Fathers Name, and Address, etc. Fill your educational details, 10th, 12th, graduation marks & subjects. Upload your photograph & signature

4. Choose a mode of payment option, i.e. credit card, debit card, wallet etc.

Pay Application fee for NET Exam as mentioned for different category.

5. Finally, submit application form after verifying it carefully.

Now save your application as a PDF on your computer, laptop or mobile. You may also take a print-out to keep the record for future use.

Am I Eligible to Apply for UGC NET Exam? Know the Criteria

In this article, I am going to discuss the eligibility criteria for the exam. The aspirants can check if they fulfill all the required criteria for the same.

The UGC NET exam is organized for the selection of candidates for assistant professor in the universities and junior research fellowship in the national universities and institutes.

The eligibility to apply for the exam is given below:


UGC NET Eligibility Criteria


The candidates who fulfill the UGC NET Eligibility criteria as per the UGC Norms as mentioned below, can fill the registration form to appear in the exam.

Educational: The candidates must have completed the post-graduation degree from the UGC approved universities with more than 55% aggregate marks.

There will be some relaxation of 5% marks (50% marks required) for the reserved category candidates.

The candidates are advised to choose the NET subject for paper 2 same as their post-graduation subject. If the subject is not available in the list of 81 NET subjects, they can apply for its related subject.

Note: The candidates, who are in their last year of post-graduation or who’s result is awaiting can also eligible to apply for the exam, However, they need to complete their post-graduation degree within 2 years from the UGC NET result declaration.


Age limit: There is no age limit for the aspirants appearing for assistant professor posts. If the candidates want to apply for NET JRF, the age must be below 30 years.

The reserved category candidates can avail the benefits of reservation. The candidates belong to reserved category can apply for the UGC NET JRF exam till the age of 35 years.

Que - Are BTech graduates eligible for UGC NET exam?
Ans - No, you are not eligible as post-graduation degree is the minimum eligibility criteria to appear into UGC NET exam. The science stream candidates who have completed the BTech. degree can apply for the CSIR NET exam for one of the five science subjects life, physical, chemical, earth and mathematical science.

Que – Does Final year in MCom student is eligible to apply for UGC NET exam?
Ans- Yes, the candidates of final year in master’s degree or who’s final result is awaited are eligible to apply for UGC NET exam.

Que – Am I eligible for UGC NET after completing PGDM? and I belong to Sc category.
Ans – Yes, you are eligible to apply for UGC NET if you have completed the PGDM from UGC approved university and there is 5-year age relaxation for reserved category candidates. You can apply for the exam till the age of 35 years.

The NTA is the organizing institute for UGC NET exam and it is organized twice a year in June and December month.

This year, the UGC NET exam will be held from 15th to 20th June and application form will be open from 16th March to 16th April 2020.
